The Three Products I Recommend Most for Thinning Hair (From a Boston Salon Owner Who Sees This Every Day)

One of the most common things clients ask me about in the salon here in Boston is thinning hairlines.

Usually it starts like this:

“Marina… I think my hairline is getting thinner. Am I crazy?”

And the answer is almost always no, you’re not crazy.

After working with hundreds of clients over the years at ZENAROSE, I’ve noticed that thinning hair usually comes from a few common things:

• stress
• hormonal changes
• medication changes
• diet and overall health

Hair is funny like that. When something is going on in your body, your hair is often the first thing to tell the story.

The good news is that there are actually products that genuinely help support hair growth and scalp health. I’ve recommended these many times, and I’ve personally seen real transformations happen right in the salon chair.

The Three Products I Recommend Most for Thinning Hair

After years behind the chair, these are three products I feel comfortable recommending because I’ve seen consistent improvements with clients who use them regularly.

1. Nutrafol

Hair health really starts from the inside out.

Nutrafol is a supplement designed to address several underlying causes of thinning hair including stress, inflammation, and hormonal imbalances.

Clients who stick with it often begin to notice improvements after a few months, such as:

• less shedding
• stronger hair
• new baby hairs appearing around the hairline

It’s not instant magic — hair growth never is — but consistency with supplements can make a noticeable difference over time.

2. Kérastase Initialiste Serum

Healthy hair also starts with a healthy scalp.

Kérastase Initialiste is one of my favorite serums to recommend when someone starts noticing thinning around the temples or hairline.

It’s a lightweight serum designed to improve scalp health and strengthen hair at the root.

When clients use it consistently, I often start seeing small baby hairs forming along the hairline, which is usually a great sign that the follicles are becoming more active again.

And as a bonus, it tends to improve overall shine and strength of the hair as well.

3. Vegamour GRO Serum

Another product many clients have had success with is Vegamour GRO Serum.

This serum focuses on supporting the follicles and encouraging stronger hair growth using plant-based ingredients.

It can be particularly helpful for people experiencing early thinning, postpartum hair loss, or changes in hair density around the temples.

Like most hair growth solutions, it works best when used consistently for several months.

What Causes Thinning Hairlines in Women?

In my experience working with clients in the salon, thinning hairlines are rarely caused by just one thing.

The most common factors I see include:

• chronic stress
• hormonal changes
• medication changes
• nutritional deficiencies
• postpartum hair shedding

Hair follicles are extremely sensitive to what is happening in the body. When something changes internally, the hair often responds by shedding or growing more slowly.

Can Thinning Hairlines Grow Back?

In many cases, yes.

If the hair follicles are still active, improving scalp health and supporting the body internally can encourage stronger hair growth over time.

This is why many successful hair regrowth strategies combine:

• internal support (like supplements)
• scalp health treatments
• topical serums that strengthen follicles

The most important factor is consistency.

Hair grows slowly, so results usually appear gradually over several months.

If You're Experiencing Thinning Hair in Boston

If you're in Boston and noticing thinning around your hairline, temples, or part line, you're definitely not alone.

It’s something we talk about with clients in the salon all the time.

The first step is usually identifying what might be causing the change — stress, hormones, medication changes, or scalp health.

Once we understand the cause, it becomes much easier to recommend the right products and treatments to support healthier hair growth.

At ZENAROSE in Beacon Hill, Boston, we always start by understanding what might be affecting the hair before recommending treatments or products.
